Meditation Group

We have a Christian Meditation Group, a joint program between Good Shepherd and St. John’s Episcopal Church. The group meets at Good Shepherd (upstairs) on Tuesday evenings, from 7:00 to 8:00 or 8:15 p.m. (Please note: We’ve been meeting on Thursday evenings during the Fall Semester 2011.  We revert to the Tuesday schedule on January 3, 2012.)  No prior experience with meditation is necessary. Contact Hilary Cooke, hilary@stjohns-laf.org or Mark Thomas, 743-1347 or sheep@goodshep.org

Please note: We sometimes have to cancel the meditation group during the winter because of weather or because of conflicts with basketball parking at Mackey Arena.  Check our calendar (here) or contact the church.

Our group practices Christian meditation in the Anglican Benedictine tradition of John Main, OSB, and Laurence Freeman, OSB.  For more information about Christian meditation, check the following links to the World Community for Christian Meditation:

Worship

  • Our Sunday celebrations of the Holy Eucharist (Holy Communion, Mass) are informal, casual, and “homey.” Our congregation is younger than at most Episcopal churches. Most people here have come from some other religious experience - or none at all.
