Meet our Chaplain

Hello and welcome to Good Shepherd!

Good Shepherd is both an Episcopal Church in the Anglican Communion and a ministry of the Diocese of Indianapolis to the campus community at Purdue University. We have just about all the things you would expect an Episcopal Church to have: Ritual, Community, and Free Food.

Having left behind our house on Hayes St., we are beginning our fourth year at our new Meridian St. location. Over the years we have served a diverse population; Methodists tired of grape juice, Presbyterians looking for liturgy, Roman Catholics mad at the Pope, a couple of pagans, all sorts of Episcopalians, and all ages of Purdue students/faculty/staff.
We believe we now can better meet the expectations of new Purdue students looking for a big building with a red door and a parking lot! We can better support the hopes of those looking for a moderate alternative to the current civil religion. We can offer hospitality to those mainline Protestant believers who have been left behind as their churches moved to cornfields outside the City of West Lafayette.

If you are ready to work on your spiritual life in an intimate Eucharistic community faithful to our traditions and tickled by our freedom, come on by!

The Rev. Peter J. Bunder, Chaplain

About Us

  • Our history and character are typical of the last 50 years of Episcopal Campus Ministry in the U.S. We are somewhat left of center. Our doors are open to anyone. We attract many seekers. Come and see what we have to offer.
