Letter from the Chaplain
Hello!
Welcome to Good Shepherd!
Good Shepherd is both an Episcopal Church in the Anglican Communion and a ministry of the Diocese of Indianapolis to the campus community at Purdue University. We have just about all the things you would expect an Episcopal Church to have: Ritual, Community, and Free Food.
This is an exciting time for all of us. We are completing our third year here at our new location. Over the years we have claimed to serve a diverse group; Methodists tired of grape juice, Presbyterians looking for a liturgy, Roman Catholics mad at the Pope, a couple of pagans, and of course all sorts of Episcopalians.
Now we believe we can better meet the expectations of Purdue students looking for a church building. We can better support the hopes of those looking for a moderate alternative to the current civil religion. We can offer hospitality to those mainline Protestant believers who have been left behind as their churches moved to cornfields outside the City of West Lafayette.
If you are ready to work on your spiritual life in an intimate Eucharistic community faithful to our traditions and tickled by our freedom, come on by!
